Setting
(Caesar Augustus sent out a decree that the entire world be taxed. Every man must travel to his own town to be registered for the census. The scene is Bethlehem. The town is overcrowded. We are looking in at the home of a rabbi named Isaac and his family. Act II takes us to the manger where Jesus was born. Act III is back at the rabbi's home. A rabbi was the religious leader of his people. He was well respected and honored. He loved God and the teaching and tradition of his Jewish people. Jewish family life was very close and abounding with love.)
(The innkeeper is an intelligent, strong Jewish man who goes to his rabbi for answers to questions he is pondering. The innkeeper's wife is a strong, independent woman who openly voices her opinion. Jewish women, for years, longed and prayed that their son would be the Messiah)
(The shepherd was a man who worked hard for his livelihood, and was not easily taken by fables.)
(Miriam* and Joseph were direct descendants from the House of David. They were godly people. The profession of carpenter was a respected one.)
*NOTE
(The original Hebrew name of the Mother of Jesus was Miriam. When translated into Latin, it became Maria, and then Mary when translated into English.)
