드라마 기법 활용을 통한 의사소통능력 신장(4)

5) 지문의 첨가(adding stage directions) 
  영어 교재에는 많은 대화 내용이 수록되어 있다. 이러한 대화에는 대화자의 행위, 감정, 몸짓, 그리고 표정 등을 나타내는 지문이 거의 표시되어 있지 않다. 이러한 대화들의 적절한 위치에 지문을 넣을 수 있는 빈칸을 마련하여 학생들로 하여금 그 빈칸을 지문으로 채우고 그 지문을 이용하여 생동감 있는 역할극을 하도록 유도한다. 교사는 미리 빈칸을 만들어 놓은 유인물을 인쇄하여 학생들에게 나누어 준 다음, 처음에는 학생들의 모국어로 다음에는 영어로 지문을 넣게 한다. 학습자의 모국어로도 행해질 수 있는 이러한 활동은 몸짓이나 표정과 같은 비언어적(paralinguistic) 자질들을 그 언어와 연결시키는데 도움을 줄 것이다. 이것은 또한 여러 가지 감정이 영어로 표현되는 방식에 민감하게 해 줄 것이다.  
⒜ 활동 순서 
  ․ 교사는 대화를 테이프로 들려준 다음 학생들과 함께 내용을 파악한다.
 ․ 내용을 파악한 후 학생들로 하여금 쌍을 짓게 하고 대화를 나눠준다.
 ․ 각각의 쌍은 Dialog의 빈칸에 들어갈 적절한 지문을 찾아서 넣는다.
 ․ 지문을 완성하면 각각의 쌍은 채운 지문을 이용하여 대화 연습을 한다.
 ․ 교사는 한 두 쌍을 지적하여 모델 역할극을 해보게 한다.
 ⒝ 대화(dialog)
 Mi-ra is visiting her aunt in San Antonio. She loves poetry and wants a good book of poems to read at bedtime. She goes to a nearby bookstore to buy one.Clerk: (Smilingly) Good afternoon. Can I help you?
Mi-ra: (Also smilingly) I wonder if you could help me find a good poetry book for  bedtime reading.
Clerk: (Curiously) You mean poems which are beautiful and not too difficult to  read. Right?
Mi-ra: (Happily) Yes, exactly.
Clerk: In that case, (Thinking with his chin rested on his hand) I'd recommend  Emily Dickinson.  Her poems are so beautiful and easy to understand.
Mi-ra: (Snapping) Sounds good. (Anxiously) Where can I find the book?
Clerk: (Telling her the location No. and pointing at it with a finger) It's in the  poetry section over there. (Favorably) I can go get a copy for you if you want.
Mi-ra: (Smile radiantly) I'd appreciate that. (The clerk goes to the section and  picks up a copy)
Clerk: (Returning and handing it over to her) O.K. Here you are. See if you like it.
Mi-ra: (Satisfied) Looks very good. (Raising the book) How much do I owe you?
Clerk: (In good spirits) Poetry books are on sale right now. It's 20% off the regular  price, so (Counting it with a calculator) that'll be $9.00 plus 50￠ tax.
Mi-ra: (Giving him $10.00 bill) Here you are. Thank you for your help.
Clerk: (Giving 50￠ back for the change) My pleasure. I'll wrap the book up for  you. (Wrapping and, then, giving it to Mi-ra) Hope you enjoy it.
Mi-ra: Thank you. (Smile at him, and get out of the store)
