하나님은 솔로몬에게 지혜와 총명을 심히 많이 주셨습니다. 인생과 문학, 예술, 과학에 관한 그의 지혜는 그 누구와도 비교할 수 없을 정도로 탁월했습니다. 이방 왕 히람은 다윗과의 교분을 잇기 위해 솔로몬에게 사절단을 보내고 솔로몬은 그에게 성전 건축을 위한 백향목의 조달을 요청합니다.
☞ 하나님이 주신 지혜의 결과
29 하나님이 솔로몬에게 지혜와 총명을 심히 많이 주시고 또 넓은 마음을 주시되 바닷가의 모래같이 하시니 30 솔로몬의 지혜가 동양 모든 사람의 지혜와 애굽의 모든 지혜보다 뛰어난지라 31 저는 모든 사람보다 지혜로와서 예스라 사람 에단과 마홀의 아들 헤만과 갈골과 다르다보다 나으므로 그 이름이 사방 모든 나라에 들렸더라
29 God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. 30 Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite--wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.
32 저가 잠언 삼천을 말하였고 그 노래는 일천다섯이며 33 저가 또 초목을 논하되 레바논 백향목으로부터 담에 나는 우슬초까지 하고 저가 또 짐승과 새와 기어 다니는 것과 물고기를 논한지라 34 모든 민족 중에서 솔로몬의 지혜의 소문을 들은 천하 모든 왕 중에서 그 지혜를 들으러 왔더라
32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. 33 He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. 34 Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.
☞ 복 받을 일을 한 사람
1 솔로몬이 기름 부음을 받고 그 부친을 이어 왕이 되었다 함을 두로 왕 히람이 듣고 그 신복을 솔로몬에게 보내었으니 이는 히람이 평일에 다윗을 사랑하였음이라
1 When Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomo n had been anointed king to succeed his father David, he sent his envoys to Solomon, because he had always been on friendly terms with David.
2 이에 솔로몬이 히람에게 기별하여 가로되 3 당신도 알거니와 내 부친 다윗이 사방의 전쟁으로 인하여 그 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 전을 건축하지 못하고 여호와께서 그 원수들을 그 발바닥 밑에 두시기를 기다렸나이다 4 이제 내 하나님 여호와께서 내게 사방의 태평을 주시매 대적도 없고 재앙도 없도다
2 Solomon sent back this message to Hiram: 3 "You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD put his enemies under his feet. 4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster.
5 여호와께서 내 부친 다윗에게 하신 말씀에 내가 너를 이어 네 위에 오르게 할 네 아들 그가 내 이름을 위하여 전을 건축하리라 하신 대로 내가 내 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 전을 건축하려 하오니
5 I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the LORD my God, as the LORD told my father David, when he said, 'Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.'
6 당신은 영을 내려 나를 위하여 레바논에서 백향목을 베어 내게 하소서 나의 종과 당신의 종이 함께할 것이요 또 내가 당신의 모든 말씀대로 당신의 종의 삯을 당신에게 붙이리이다 당신도 알거니와 우리 중에는 시돈 사람처럼 벌목을 잘하는 자가 없나이다
6 "So give orders that cedars of Lebanon be cut for me. My men will work with yours, and I will pay you for your men whatever wages you set. You know that we have no one so skilled in felling timber as the Sidonians."
