An alien is a creature that comes to the Earth from outer space. Many people claim that they have seen aliens. But no one has proven that they really exist. People as far back as those living in 7 B.C. have claimed to have seen these mysterious creatures. Experts say, "If aliens really did exist, they'll probably be small and look like bugs." They believe this is because insects are the most adaptable when it comes to living in different environments. What Is a UFO? A UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object. The term "UFO" was first used by the American Air Force in 1954. When pilots saw flying objects and didn't know what they were, they called them UFOs. As time passed, many people began seeing UFOs all over the world! one of the most famous UFO sightings was in 1947 near Washington. A pilot named Kenneth Arnold saw many round objects flying in the sky. He reported it to the police, but the mystery of these flying objects has yet to be found. The Roswell UFO Incident On the night of July 2, 1947, something crashed into a desert in Roswell, New Mexico. Soon after, the place was closed off by soldiers. At first, these soldiers announced that a UFO had crashed. But later, the soldiers said that it was not a UFO but a weather balloon. In 1970, however, it was announced that the crashed object was actually a UFO. After nearly 30 years, we still don't know if the story was real or not. Since then, July 2 was officially set as UFO Day! What Are We Doing to Find Aliens and UFOs Today? To search for aliens, scientists made special satellite dishes to hear deep into space. They say if there are aliens out there, we will receive radio signals from them. one Scientist named Seth Shostak said that he hopes to hear from these aliens in the near future.
